Ganderbal, Dec 16 (KNO): The residents of Gund, a scenic town in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district here have demanded the government to restore the Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) bus service that once connected Gund to Srinagar. The bus service, which operated a few years ago, was a vital link for the community, especially for traders and government employees. Its sudden removal has created serious transportation issues for the locals. “The bus was a lifeline for many of us, particularly for those who needed to travel to Srinagar for business or work,” said a member of the Traders Union Gund. “Without it, we are forced to rely on expensive alternatives, which has become a financial burden to us.” Students, too, are feeling the impact of the bus service's discontinuation. “The bus helped me reach my college in Srinagar on time, especially during exams,” said Umer, a student from Gund. “Now, I struggle with finding affordable and reliable transport." Another student, Imran told KNO, “I have to miss important classes due to the lack of proper transport. Restoring the JKRTC bus would make a huge difference for students like me.” Locals urged the authorities to reinstate the service, which they believe is crucial for their daily lives. “This service was not just convenient, but essential. It must be restored for the benefit of everyone in Gund,” they added—(KNO)
